CostPerform released a new version of its software. CostPerform version 2022.2 is the second major release of 2022. The release was shortly followed by two hotfixes that address a security vulnerability (2022.2.1) and several annoying bugs (2022.2.2). Version 2022.2 introduces a couple of important new functionalities. We’re highlighting two of these functionalities for you in this blog post.
Datawarehouse exports
This version of CostPerform makes it easier to integrate with your existing Business Intelligence tools like Power BI, Qlik, and Tableau. Using the new Datawarehouse Export functionality, you can export all data for objects, allocations, breakdowns*, and Big Data at once. When selected, all data for each of these items are stored in a single table, including all information required to analyze, visualize, and link the data together.
You can use the recently introduced Period Sets and Period Configurations to easily configure which periods should be included in the exports. CostPerform supports a long list of target databases that can be used to export the data. For our Enterprise Plus customers on SaaS, we provide a complimentary Aurora database for this purpose.
Please note that this functionality is currently marked as experimental since changes to the functionality might affect the table structure of exports.
* Breakdowns are all relations each object has with all other objects in the model. This information is stored as the percentage of source and percentage of destination.
Commit overview
A couple of versions ago we introduced our new Data Entry Portal, allowing you to have all kinds of people throughout your organization enter their data in a workflow-controlled manner. What was lacking was a clear overview of how this process was progressing. This version of CostPerform improves the Commits overview screen to show the progress of each job:
By expanding the row of a job you can quickly see the status of its commits, both submitted and expected.
Portal improvements
In Data Entry Jobs you can now specify additional attributes to show in the Portal for the source and destination objects. You can toggle the visibility of these additional attributes by clicking the Show/Hide extra attributes button.
You can now paste multiple rows and columns of data in the Portal. CostPerform will parse the rows and columns (tab-separated) and show a preview of the data to be pasted. From this preview, you can deselect specific rows and/or columns to prevent them from being pasted. If you have invalid input in one or more of your input fields, the Find Next Error button highlights each of these fields, making it easier to find and correct the input.
You can mark Jobs and Publications as favorites in the Portal by clicking the star icon next to the name. Your favorite Jobs and Publications will be shown on the Dashboard page of the Portal.
Further improvements
There are many more enhancements, such as more authentication options for accessing Microsoft365 from Web Import Tasks and WebService Readers (ETL), a new SFTP Task for accessing files on an external SFTP server, and the option to quickly open a saved Whiteboard, Dashboard, Browse View or run a stored Rollup/Drilldown configuration. This release contains a total of 57 enhancements and 92 bug fixes, with an additional 6 issues solved in the two hotfixes.
