From Finland to Holland: a short history lesson about CostPerform
Not many people know this, but the CostPerform software was born and raised in Finland. At least, until September 2001, when Ulrik van Beyma and Lim Vermeer (two of CostPerform’s current owners) took the software to the Netherlands – where it was rebuilt to be the best software for cost and performance management. Read on for more info about CostPerform history.
Before becoming directors of CostPerform, Ulrik and Lim were full-time business consultants that used cost management software developed by Finland-based company QPR. In 2001, when the Fins decided to focus on the development of process control software instead of cost management software, Ulrik and Lim took the chance to start their own business. By signing an agreement that made them software co-owners, CostPerform, as a company, was born and the software was taken to the Netherlands.
“The software had to be completely rebuilt from scratch.”
Born again
Not long after that, a third shareholder and director entered the stage: Carlos van der Vorst. Together with Lim and Ulrik, he decided that the software had to be completely rebuilt from scratch for various reasons. So CostPerform was born again. Thanks to the rebuild, CostPerform grew and became more popular, in and outside Europe.
“CostPerform is in a top condition to be the best software for cost & performance management – today and tomorrow.”
Growth meant new horizons and opportunities, and of course, new challenges. Therefore, in 2018 Bert-Jan de Gier and Sander den Hartog were added to the CostPerform management line-up. Bert-Jan was no stranger to CostPerform as he was already overseeing the software development for over a decade. The same goes for Sander, who was a strategy consultant at KPMG, an international accounting and advisory organization and long-term partner of CostPerform.
Ready for the future
So, thanks to a recently refreshed team and an upcoming software update with more than 150 improvements, CostPerform is ready for the future and in a top condition to be the best software for cost & performance management – today and tomorrow.
